Since its origins, Quanza’s employees have mainly come from a technology background, leading to each team member managing their own workplace. However, since experiencing significant growth, the IT environment has become increasingly complex, resulting in the need for an IT department that could manage all of those workplaces. On top of that, Quanza’s ISO certification drove the need for a tighter hold on workplace security. Especially at a time when most people are working from home.

There were some key demands for the optimum solution: management, outfitting, and enrollment of the new workplaces should be as easy as possible and the burden of management tasks on Quanza team members should be minimal - whether related to the enrollment or day-to-day use of the workplace.

Quanza needed a partner that could provide first-line support, relieving the burden on their IT administrator. That’s why we recommended a complete solution that included all of their requirements: the Managed Workplace.

Simple management of all workplaces.

Jamf is our recommended solution for easy management of all Apple devices. It offers the administrator a full overview of the status of all Mac devices within the company, all at a glance. Changes or updates are sent to each Mac through the cloud, saving significant time. The straightforward dashboard also makes the Managed Workplace an excellent tool in the event of an ISO audit. That kind of overview was previously impossible at Quanza, as the administrator had to regularly visit each individual workplace to check on the status of every single Mac.

Combining Jamf with Apple Business Manager makes it possible to roll out all Mac devices via the cloud. We call that “zero-touch deployment.” Once devices are unboxed and connected to the internet, Quanza’s basic configurations and settings are automatically installed. Via Pro Warehouse, the devices are registered in Apple Business Manager and Quanza’s IT administrator then sets them up using Jamf. Setting up all devices from one central place saves time for everyone involved.

For the Managed Workplace implementation process, we set up a Slack channel with Quanza’s IT department to offer quick and satisfactory answers to any question or issue. During a busy testing phase, this works better and more quickly than a waterfall method with numerous meetings and emails. It makes for easy back-and-forth or allows for quick answers at a moment’s notice, so you can get right back to business.

CIS benchmark for workplaces.

We use the CIS benchmark (Center for Internet Security) to protect devices that are managed with Jamf. In collaboration with the client, we examine which benchmark elements are important. Once identified, we implement those, in addition to monitoring any items on the checklist that could potentially lead to security incidents.

While Mac may seem more expensive initially, Quanza ultimately reduces costs through the Managed Workplace. With solutions like Self Service, Mac users can manage and often resolve minor issues on their own. As a result, there is much less need for support and there are fewer problems to solve. Any remaining questions are handled professionally by the Pro Warehouse service desk, leaving Quanza with nothing to worry about. Combined with simple management, it saves so much on costs that it can offset the higher purchase price in no time.
